Centerre Construction, an established Denver-based commercial general contractor, is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a construction professional who wants to build a long-term career with a respected Colorado contractor while working on diverse and challenging commercial projects.
Our projects typically range from $1 million to $50 million and include new construction, renovations, additions, and historic rehabilitation projects throughout the Denver Metro area, Colorado Front Range, and surrounding Colorado communities. This position offers minimal travel and the opportunity to work closely with experienced project managers, superintendents, owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
Position Overview
The Project Engineer is an integral member of Centerre's project management team and assists the Project Manager and Superintendent with the day-to-day coordination, documentation, and administration of construction projects.
The successful candidate will be highly organized, proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in both field and office environments. This position requires the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining clear communication among the project team, design professionals, subcontractors, suppliers, and owner.
Key Responsibilities Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with the daily coordination and administration of construction activities. Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders. Maintain and continuously update project drawings, specifications, and other contract documents in Procore. Maintain an accurate master set of drawings incorporating RFIs, ASIs, design revisions, and other project changes. Review subcontractor submittals and shop drawings for completeness and general compliance with the contract documents prior to submission to the design team. Manage the submittal and shop drawing process to support procurement requirements and the construction schedule. Prepare and track Requests for Information (RFIs) in coordination with the Project Manager and Superintendent. Assist with the coordination of architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and specialty contractor drawings to identify conflicts and facilitate installation. Track long-lead materials, equipment, and procurement activities to help ensure timely delivery to the jobsite. Assist with project schedule updates, short-term planning, and coordination of construction activities. Coordinate subcontractor work and sequencing at the direction of the Project Superintendent. Assist with project quality control, safety, commissioning, closeout, and risk-management activities. Participate in project meetings, including preconstruction, pre-installation/pre-trade, subcontractor coordination, owner-architect-contractor (OAC), and internal project meetings. Prepare meeting documentation and assist with tracking outstanding action items. Assist with punch list, commissioning, project closeout, record drawings, warranties, and operations and maintenance documentation. Develop strong working relationships with clients, design professionals, subcontractors, suppliers, and fellow Centerre team members.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
3+ years of experience working on commercial construction projects. A bachelor's degree in construction management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent technical training and relevant construction experience will also be considered. Experience with a variety of commercial construction methods and building systems. Proficiency with Procore. Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and project documentation. Working knowledge of construction practices, building systems, codes, standards, and construction sequencing. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong attention to detail and follow-through. Ability to work collaboratively with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal project teams. A proactive, problem-solving approach and willingness to take ownership of assigned responsibilities. Commissioning and project closeout experience is preferred. Compensation & Benefits
