West Region Mining Practice Lead
HDR
Curated from public sources by AECjobs.co.
About the role
HDR's mining practice supports clients across greenfield and brownfield projects — permitting, design, and operations — and is growing in the West. This role is a seller/doer position: you'll lead projects, build the regional program, develop client relationships, and recruit the talent needed to expand HDR's mining capabilities across the West Region. It's a high-ownership role for someone who's equally comfortable running a complex multi-disciplinary project and sitting across the table from a mining company's leadership team.
What we're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in mining, civil, chemical engineering, or a closely related field; PE licensure required in at least one state (multiple states preferred)
- 15+ years of industry experience, with at least 10 years managing mining projects through budget, schedule, safety, and quality milestones
- Familiarity with multiple commodities — hard rock, soft rock, industrial minerals — across the full project lifecycle from exploration through closure and reclamation
- Experience with open pit and underground operations; mine software for block modeling is a plus
- MSHA certification
- Proven track record winning and executing work for mining clients; existing relationships in the sector are a real advantage
- Strong communication and mentoring skills; comfortable leading diverse, multi-disciplinary teams
