About the role

Burns & McDonnell's Environmental Services (ENS) team is looking for a Business Development Manager to lead proactive sales efforts across its full suite of environmental engineering and construction services. You'll own client relationships at the senior level, drive pursuit strategy, and help shape the annual business plan — while also mentoring a national team of account managers and seller-doers. This is a client-facing role (more than half your time) with real influence over how ENS grows its market share.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, construction, or a related field plus 5 years of AEC business development or sales experience — or equivalent experience combinations (associate's + 7 years, or high school/GED + 9 years)
  • 10–15 years of experience preferred, with deep familiarity in the utility and/or renewables market
  • Demonstrated track record of hitting sales targets and managing key accounts
  • Experience developing written sales plans, leading capture efforts, and negotiating service agreements
  • Strong communicator — comfortable presenting to executives, clients, and technical teams alike
  • Active participation in relevant industry associations; willingness to travel up to 75% of the time
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
