About the role

HDR's Denver building engineering team is a full-service, multi-disciplinary group — mechanical, electrical, structural, civil, and controls — co-located with an architecture studio for genuinely integrated design. As Mechanical Business Class Leader, you'll own the strategic direction and day-to-day leadership of the mechanical and plumbing engineering team, delivering complex projects across healthcare, education, science, water/wastewater, federal, and industrial markets. This is a senior leadership seat with real influence over hiring, team culture, technical quality, and business growth.

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related field
10+ years of experience in building mechanical/plumbing engineering
Active PE license required
Proven track record leading and growing diverse engineering teams
Hands-on experience as project manager or mechanical lead on complex A/E projects
Ability to oversee scope, schedule, and budget across multiple concurrent projects
Comfortable in business development — proposals, interviews, and client relationships
Experience coordinating across disciplines in an integrated architecture/engineering environment
